Time:

Saturday & Sunday, September 18 & 19
10am - 11:30am
Cost: $25/person, limited to 12 people
Location: Loxton Cellars
Details: Experience what goes into a picking decision by walking the vineyard around the winery and doing grape sampling with winemaker, Chris Loxton. You'll learn that chemistry isn't so important (but you will measure sugar and pH on your sample) and you'll taste lots of grapes to consider tannins, acids and flavors. We will also look at how soil changes make up to several weeks difference in picking dates even on grapes grown just 50 yards apart. There will be a prize for the person who can get the same acid and sugar results as the winemaker!
Bring sturdy shoes and a hat, even though we will be walking in the vineyard blocks right around the winery. We will finish up with a tasting of the different wines made from these different blocks and you will be able to understand why the different wines are made.
